Feldspar Soda
Soda feldspar is a key flux in ceramics, used in both clay bodies and glazes to lower the melting temperature and promote vitrification. Compared to potash feldspar, it has a higher sodium content, which enhances glaze fluxing and increases gloss and transparency. In clay bodies, soda feldspar improves density, strength, and workability while helping to control thermal expansion, reducing the risk of crazing. It is particularly valued in mid-range and high-fire ceramics for producing smooth, durable surfaces with bright glaze effects.
