Silica is a fundamental component in ceramics, serving as a primary glass-former in glazes and as a structural material in clay bodies. In glazes, silica contributes to the development of a durable glassy surface by forming the essential glass matrix during firing. In clay bodies, it provides strength and rigidity, influencing the thermal expansion and mechanical properties of the final product.
