The most commonly used colourant in ceramics, red iron oxide will produce a range of earthy colours from light tans to the darkest browns. It can be used to colour clay, glaze, slip, engobes/underglazes, or simply used as a wash to bring out texture and add dimension to your work.
Synthetic red iron oxide has the highest amount of iron and delivers a consistent colour response.
