Talc Plus 325
Talc is a magnesium silicate mineral used in ceramics for a number of different applications. On its own it is refractory, while small amounts in stoneware/porcelain bodies can help vitrification. It is commonly used in low-fire clay bodies, particularly those used for slip casting.
In glazes, talc contributes magnesium oxide (MgO), which can produce matte surfaces and influence colour response. Additionally, it helps control thermal expansion, reducing the risk of crazing or shivering in fired ceramics. Talc is also valued in industrial ceramics for its ability to enhance strength, thermal shock resistance, and firing consistency.
